Are my details confidential and private?
Tunstall Counselling and Resource Centre respects the right of each client to confidentiality and privacy. We are bound by the requirements of the Victorian Health Records Act of 2001.
All information disclosed is confidential to the agency except where:
- clients give written permission for disclosure
- information is subpoenaed by a Court of Law
- there is serious risk to a client or other person
What information is held?
Only necessary personal information is held. Essentially this is:
- name
- contact details
- relevant documents
- brief notes on matters discussed.
Where is the information held?
Information is held in locked cabinets, accessible only to authorised staff.
Can I access my file?
Clients have a right to access their file and to correct any inaccurate information.
If you wish to see your file you can discuss this with your counsellor or write direct to the Privacy Officer at Tunstall Counselling and Resource Centre. The request will be responded to within 30 working days.

Complaints
If you have a complaint about the service you received at the Tunstall Counselling and Resource Centre you may discuss this with one of the following people:
- your Counsellor
- the Coordinator of the Centre OR
- the President of the Committee of Management.
